Politics and Big Business

All right, your big brother is the President of the United States of America and you are in big business. You want to be in even bigger business. So he lays on a biggish war somewhere, anywhere and wars cost money, right? Is this all cause and effect or just side effect? Don't ask, just roll with the punches and take the opportunities as they come. The men are there. They need, weapons ammunition, training and feeding. It all happened in a hurry so we can by pass the normal procurement set up and work on a cost plus basis. The cost is pretty big; the plus is just as big as you can get away with.

Of course what is even better is arranging payment for things that didn't happen. This is cost plus without the cost and it all drops through to the bottom line. Just ask your accountant. Naturally all of this money is going to foreign parts never to be seen again; well not by the IRS, the American tax man. Only little people pay tax. But don't take my word for it. Just ask Evelyn. She lives in Miamisburg, Ohio and she doesn't like George. She thinks that he ought to have done his service. He did the training as a fighter pilot. It kept him out of Vietnam. Walking away when he felt like it wasn't an option for most men.

It is fair to say that there are people who just do not like George. A lot of them kept their mouths shut when Clinton was doing far worse.

Bush Pays Halliburton For Services Never Rendered
Cost plus minus cost adds up to lotsa profit. It sounds pretty good to me and with all of those billions floating around out there nobody is going to notice, are they?

Iraqis To Bush - What Have We Done To Deserve This?
This not quite the same theme but if you were an Iraqi living in Iraq you might well wonder whether George is any better than Saddam. To be fair, the war had to be somewhere.

Bush Administration - Money, Politics & Drugs
Back to cost plus. Test all Americans to see if they are lunatics. Drug them if they are and add on the plus. More loons = more drugs = more cost = more plus.

One in the White House to make the decisions and three to profit from them. This makes good sense. Their business structure is complicated,  involving lots of off shore outfits and Ahmed Chalabi. He was on the run from a fraud rap in Jordan and a 17 year stretch until he got a pardon for reasons, doubtless splendid but not quite clear to me. The Silverado Saving & Loan [ mortgage outfit ] went belly up. Sheer bad luck no doubt. So the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Just make sure that you are on the right side of the divide. Merchants of death can sell to both sides and then sell them on to others next time. It is good business but it gets bad publicity.

Pro-Israel Activists Exercise Huge Influence In Congress
QUOTE
As part of their continuing campaign to keep John Sununu out of the U.S. Senate—an effort which failed in 2002, when then-Rep. Sununu (RN.H.) was first elected to “the world’s greatest deliberative body”—pro-Israel PACs bestowed a whopping $44,000 on would-be Democratic opponent Katrina Swett in 2007.In case that name doesn’t ring a bell, Swett is the daughter of the late Rep. Tom Lantos (D-Calif.), who was one of Israel’s most ardent champions in the House. Her husband is former Rep. Dick Swett (D-N.H.), who, after two terms in the House and an unsuccessful Senate bid, managed to amass a respectable $95,500 in pro-Israel PAC contributions.

Call it influence or call it bribes. It is very effective. Of course these bungs are merely those that go through the books. All of this is over and above a Congressman's rather useful pay cheques.
