Memes

There are Memes out there which is to say  ideas that appeal to certain kinds of people, that they are willing to believe without much in the way of evidence and even with solid evidence to the contrary. Memes are analogous to genes. Once they are scattered they can turn up all over the place. The ideal Propaganda meme is difficult to disprove which is how Marx got away with it. Gramsci's ideas were fairly obviously bad news and seriously bad news at that which is why communist subversives like the BBC   keep quiet about him but see  Antonio Gramsci

A splendid listing comes from Ibiblio to whom I am grateful.

Gramsci's Legacy
Ideas are more dangerous than weapons because they control men's minds and actions. Here are some spread by the education industry and the media.

  • There is no truth, only competing agendas.

  • All Western (and especially American) claims to moral superiority over Communism/Fascism/Islam are vitiated by the West’s history of racism and colonialism.

  • There are no objective standards by which we may judge one culture to be better than another. Anyone who claims that there are such standards is an evil oppressor.

  • The prosperity of the West is built on ruthless exploitation of the Third World; therefore Westerners actually deserve to be impoverished and miserable.

  • Crime is the fault of society, not the individual criminal. Poor criminals are entitled to what they take. Submitting to criminal predation is more virtuous than resisting it.

  • The poor are victims. Criminals are victims. And only victims are virtuous. Therefore only the poor and criminals are virtuous. (Rich people can borrow some virtue by identifying with poor people and criminals.)

  • For a virtuous person, violence and war are never justified. It is always better to be a victim than to fight, or even to defend oneself. But ‘oppressed’ people are allowed to use violence anyway; they are merely reflecting the evil of their oppressors.

  • When confronted with terror, the only moral course for a Westerner is to apologize for past sins, understand the terrorist’s point of view, and make concessions.

These ideas have been released into the wild but have a virtue. When they are stated clearly and looked in the eye they are quite clearly false or misguided but they do have an attraction for a certain type of mind e.g. for Lenin's Useful Idiots.

Trope ex Wiki
A literary trope is the use of figurative language, via word, phrase or an image, for artistic effect[1] such as using a figure of speech. The word trope has also come to be used for describing commonly recurring literary and rhetorical devices,[2] motifs or clichés in creative works.[3][4]

Anti-Semitic Canard ex Wiki
QUOTE
An antisemitic canard is an unfounded rumor or a false allegation which is defamatory towards Judaism as a religion, or defamatory towards Jews as an ethnic or religious group. Antisemitic canards often form part of broader theories of Jewish conspiracies. According to defense attorney Kenneth Stern, "Historically, Jews have not fared well around conspiracy theories. Such ideas fuel anti-Semitism. The myths that all Jews are responsible for the death of Christ, or poisoned wells, or killed Christian children to bake matzos, or "made up" the Holocaust, or plot to control the world, do not succeed each other; rather, the list of anti-Semitic canards gets longer."[1]
UNQUOTE
The list does get longer. A lot of the accusations are not merely true but provably so. E.g. the Atlantic slave trade was run by Jews. The Nation of Islam explains giving sources in The Secret Relationship Between Blacks and Jews.

Meme ex Wiki
A meme (/ˈmm/ MEEM)[1] is "an idea, behavior, or style that spreads from person to person within a culture".[2] A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.[3]
