During the Second World War, George Orwell repeatedly said that British democracy, as it existed before 1939, would not survive the war, the question being: Would it end via Fascist coup d'état (from above) or via Socialist revolution (from below)?
In the event it was destroyed by the revolutionaries of the 1960s, followers of Antonio Gramsci who infiltrated Her Majesty's Government, the media, education, business, the law etc. their Long March Through The Institutions. Blair, as Her Majesty's Prime Minister has done more to destroy liberty and create tyranny than any other. This does not except the times of two world wars. On Airstrip One [ Britain ] we have our Two Minutes Hate every day at 11:00, The target is Emmanuel Goldstein, the enemy of Big Brother. He was originally thought to have been based on Leon Trotsky, the well known Jew and mass murderer. Leon was killed later by Stalin in Mexico City. More recent candidates include George Soros, another Jew, Richard Nixon & Osama bin Laden. The Wikipedia's suggestions do not include Satan or Donald Trump. Goldstein was the presumptive author of The Theory and Practice of Oligarchical Collectivism, a very illegal book. Lots of people saw him very differently.

Alfred McCoy, a professor of history tells us that the NSA is being used to control politicians by blackmailing them. Sounds right to me.
